Copyright 2.0 Show – Episode 322 – Mega Lawsuit

Megaupload LogoIt is Friday Tuesday again and that means that it is time for another episode of the Copyright 2.0 Show.

Apologies for the late upload of this episode but life came before blogging on Friday and Monday. I’ve been swamped with other projects (and I suspect many others in the U.S. are this mid-April). Still, this is a great episode of the Copyright 2.0 Show that you definitely don’t want to miss.

We start off with a story that might have you wondering what year it is as the movie studios file a lawsuit against Kim Dotcom and Megaupload. Meanwhile, the record labels make good on their threats and sue VKontakte, the largest social network in Russia.

We also have the arrest of a streaming site admin in the UK and news about upcoming copyright legislation in Singapore that aims to make it easier to have ISPs block infringing websites.

We end on news from Aruba about the criminal prosecution of a DVD Ripping company and an update on the Notorious B.I.G. sampling case as well as a new lawsuit between two behemoth movie studios over the upcoming film “Section 6″.

All of that and more on this, Episode 322 of the Copyright 2.0 Show!

This week’s stories include:

  • Movie Studios sue Megaupload and Kim Dotcom
  • Record Labels Sue VKontakte
  • City of London Police Arrest Streaming Site Operator
  • Singapore Moves to Make Site Blocking Easier
  • Company Behind DVD Ripper Hit with Criminal Penalties in Aruba
  • Notorious B.I.G. Estate Hit with Sampling Lawsuit
  • MGM Sues Universal Over “Section 6″
