In the U.S., it was Thanksgiving week two weeks ago so we took the week off, spent time with our family and figured there wouldn’t be a crazy amount of copyright news to go over when we returned.
Well, everyone makes mistakes.
It was a busy pair of weeks for copyright news and one hour just isn’t enough time to get caught up. First off, we have the start of what could be one of the most important copyright lawsuits in recent history with music publishers taking a U.S. ISP to task over repeat infringement, Cisco systems suing a rival over copyright and patent issues and a series of updates on the fate of Kim Dotcom and his money.
We also have updates on the Google Book Search lawsuit, a second bid by Sirius XM in their case over pre-1972 sound recordings and a new business model for notorious pirate site FilesTube, one that leads to legitimacy. All of that and a settlement in a closely watched case by artists.
