1: Streaming Piracy Crackdown ‘KRATOS 2’ Leads to 29 Arrests, Targets Remain Unknown

First off today, Ernesto Van der Sar at TorrentFreak writes that a seven-month Europol operation has concluded with 29 arrests, 27,000 URLs taken down, and nine “criminal networks” dismantled.

The operation, dubbed KRATOS 2, involved authorities from 12 countries, including much of Europe and the United States. The Europol press release did not name either the individuals who were arrested nor the sites that were taken down. However, this may be because Europol considers the operation to be ongoing.

In addition to the arrests and removals, Europol also said that authorities have searched 148 houses and referred 59 cases to judicial authorities. All totaled, Europol claims to have identified over 722,000 “infringing objects.”

2: Still Facing Copyright Lawsuits, AI Music Generator Suno Raises Another $400M

Next up today, Amanda Silberling at TechCrunch reports that the AI music-generation company Suno has raised $400 million in a new funding round, placing its valuation at $5.4 billion.

The funding comes as Suno is facing a laundry list of copyright lawsuits, including ones filed by Sony, Universal Music Group, and the German music collection agency GEMA. The company has acknowledged that it used copyrighted music in its training data but argues that the use was non-infringing.

The round of funding was led by Bond Capital, with other corporate investors also signing on. However, Suno claims that the companies were joined by “some of the best artists, producers, songwriters, and people from across the music industry.” However, the company has not named any of the individuals involved. 

3: Copyright Lawsuit Against Travis Scott, SZA, and Future Over ‘Telekinesis’ Dropped

Finally today, Mandy Dalugdug at Music Business Worldwide reports that musician Victory Boyd has voluntarily dismissed her copyright infringement lawsuit against Travis Scott, SZA, and Future, claiming that she has chosen to forgive the artists and move on.

Victory sued the artists in January 2025, alleging that the Travis Scott song Telekinesis infringed her earlier song, Like the Way it Sounds. Scott and his co-defendants denied the allegations. 

However, the case survived a motion to dismiss and seemed to be heading toward trial. But that will not happen as, according to Victory, she has had a change of heart and opted to forgive Scott and the others. According to a joint stipulation filed by both sides, each party will pay its own legal costs and waive the right to appeal.
