1: Woman Suing Taylor Swift Is Trying to Block Disney+ Documentary Release

First off today, Jenna Sundel at Newsweek reports that author Kimberly Marasco has filed a second lawsuit against Taylor Swift, this time attempting to block the upcoming release of a documentary on Disney+.

Marasco claims that Swift has used her poetry and visuals in multiple albums. She argues that some of those elements have made it into the upcoming The End of an Era documentary, constituting copyright infringement.

This is actually Marasco’s second attempt to sue Swift. Swift was dismissed from the first lawsuit after Marasco was unable to serve her the papers. The lawsuit continued against other entities, including Taylor Swift Productions, but that case was dismissed with prejudice. In this latest case, Marasco is seeking a preliminary injunction to delay the release of the documentary series.

Next up today, Davey Winder at Forbes reports that hackers are attempting to steal passwords on X (formerly Twitter) by sending fake copyright notices.

The notices typically arrive via email and claim that they have received a DMCA notice regarding your account. It includes a large “review details” button and warns that your account’s visibility may be limited if you don’t respond.

However, if you click the button and enter your login details, you’re essentially giving the attackers access to your account. If you were compromised, X asks you to visit their compromised accounts help page.

3: Destiny 2 Red War Copyright Lawsuit Ends as Bungie Reaches Full Settlement With Author

Finally, today, Zuhaad Ali at The Game Post reports that Bungie has settled its copyright infringement lawsuit with science fiction author Matthew Martineau.

Martineau filed the lawsuit in October 2024, alleging that Bugie copied parts of his 2013-2014 stories when creating Destiny 2‘s Red Legion Faction and Red War plot. Bungie attempted to get the case dismissed, but the motion was denied, and the case moved into discovery.

Now, it appears that the two sides have settled. No details about the settlement are known. The judge has dismissed the lawsuit but given both parties a 60-day window to reopen the case should the settlement fall apart.
