1: Cloudflare Takes Legal Action Over LaLiga’s “Disproportionate Blocking Efforts”

First off today, Julian Clover at Broadband TV News reports that Cloudflare is pursuing legal action in Spain after the soccer league LALIGA secured a blocking order that blocked parts of their network in the country.

LALIGA secured the blocking order against two alleged pirate websites, DazcFutbolios and RBTV77. However, the sites were hidden behind Cloudflare’s content delivery network, blocking many legitimate websites that also use the service.

Cloudflare is challenging the block in court, saying it threatens the open internet. However, LALIGA claims that over half of all suspected pirate sites use Cloudflare, making such steps necessary.

2: ISP Must Unmask 100 Alleged BitTorrent Pirates in RIAA Lawsuit

Next up today, Ernesto Van der Sar at Torrentfreak writes that Altice, the parent company of the ISP Optimum, will have to disclose the identities of a hundred alleged music pirates on its service.

Nearly 50 record labels sued the company, alleging it failed to take adequate steps to prevent piracy on its network. The case, which the RIAA backs, is just one of several such lawsuits against Altice and Optimum over these issues.

All of the accounts were previously targeted by record labels, who sent requests to Optimum. The labels hope this list will bolster their arguments that Optimum ignored cases of repeat infringement. It is unlikely that the individuals involved will be targeted directly, as the stated goal is to gather information for the ongoing case.

3: Skibidi Toilet Studio Looking to Flush Out Imitators in Court

Finally today, Nicole Carpenter at Polygon reports that Invisible Narratives, the company working on several Skibidi Toilet-related projects, have filed a lawsuit against Next Level, over the ownership of the meme and related elements.

According to the lawsuit, Alexey Gerasimov created The Skibidi Toilet for YouTube. He struck a license with Invisible Narratives to turn the meme into a movie and TV series. However, Invisible Narratives alleges that a competitor, Next Level, has registered the relevant domain and is also attempting to file trademark and copyright registrations related to the characters.

Next Level’s owner, Sergey Osadchy, claims to have created a game by the same name in 2020. This has led to various legal duels between the parties, including a series of takedown notices filed against Gerasimov’s YouTube channel. However, things have escalated to a lawsuit, which Next Level has 21 days to respond to. None of the parties commented on the lawsuit.
