Copyright 2.0 Show – Episode 316 – Eye on the Royalties

It is Friday again and that means that it is time for another episode of the Copyright 2.0 Show.

It was a short week for us. As Patrick put it, it felt like we played the Thursday night game and had to whip around and play the regular one next week. However, even with the shortened week, there was still a great deal of copyright news to discuss.

First, we have an update on the Aereo case as FilmOn tries to inject itself into it, a New Orleans charity claims ownership of songs distributed by Jack White’s label and a playwright is suing in hopes of verifying that his play is not an infringement of “Three’s Company”.

We also have news that the band Survivor is suing their label, Sony, over allegedly unpaid royalties and, in international news, the EU takes a major step to streamlining music licensing in the bloc.
