Today, as part of the ongoing series of classic articles, I'm highlighting 9 articles from three different sites that, though I personally enjoyed, didn't quite get the attention I thought they would.

Note: Since I will be gone most of this week to the International Plagiarism Conference and unable to post new material, I’m doing a short series highlight past posts from the various sites I write for. This post is the second in that series.

One thing I have learned while writing for Plagiarism Today is that my own feelings provide absolutely no indication of how well it will be received. Some articles I’ve liked have done really well, others fell flat.

Here are some of my personal favorite entries and articles at the three sites I currently write for.

Plagiarism Today

Video: WordCamp Dallas Presentation – The recorded footage from my presentation at WordCamp Dallas. Almost makes me look good.

Blog Herald

European Journalism Centre

Avoiding copyright catastrophe – How not to end up defending a bad copyright move.
How much is a link worth? – About putting a price in incoming links.
Part One: Surviving the “Me” Era – A new series about the new age of media consumption and how to thrive in it.

Conclusions

Not all of these articles were big hits when they came out though some have found second and third lives in certain communities. However, these are all articles that I was at least modestly proud of when they were released and hope that, by giving them a little extra attention, they can help people who might either be new to the sites or missed them the first time.

Please let me know if any of these articles strike a chord with you or if there is something else I should focus on in the future.

Today's PT article actually appears as a guest post on Lorelle on WordPress and is designed to help users of WordPress.com protect their content despite some steep limitations.

I just finished posting a guest blog entry on Lorelle on WordPress entitled “Protecting Your Content on WordPress.com“.

It details steps that users of Automattic’s hosted blog solution can take to monitor and prevent misuse of their work. It’s a guide tailored to the more limited tools available to WordPress.com users.

The article offers several tips on how WordPress.com users, working in their limited environment, can get functionality similar to the plugins self-hosted WordPress users have at their disposal.

I hope that users of WordPress.com find the guide useful and please feel free to add anything that I missed to the comments in the original article. I plan on doing other guides in the future for other sites such as BlogSpot and Typepad if there is a great deal of interest.

I’ve added a new feature to the side bar of this site, a Top Commentators list. The list, which counts all comments that a person has made over the past 90 days gives credit and a link to the top ten commentators during that time.

Currently, Jeremy Steele and Patrick are tied for first at ten a piece, however, it is almost certainly something that will fluctuate wildly.

I wanted to do something to give back to the people that help make the discussion on this site great and encourage others to jump in.

Please let me know what you think of the new feature. To do that, I highly recommend leaving a comment.

(Note: This feature wouldn’t have been practical without the reCAPTCHA plugin keeping the spam bots at bay, my thanks goes to them for their work!)
