It is Monday again and that means that it is time for another episode of the Copyright 2.0 Show.

It was a busy week for copyright news with the biggest story being one of the most uneventful: The Pirate Bay trial ending with no verdict expected until April 17. However, there are tons of other important stories this week including some controversial legislation in the U.S., Metallica pirating their own music, a new business model for Microsoft office and some of the strangest behavior in a trial I have ever heard of.

All in all, there were fourteen stories this week including news from all over the copyright world including our “Weird Story of the Week”.

This week’s stories include:

The Pirate Bay Trial is Over, Verdict a Month Away

New Legislation Seeks to Protect Government-Funded Research

Metallica Pirates their Own Album

Audio Watermarks Week to Identify Movie Cammers

The Pirate Bay Reboots Downed Server… During Closing Arguments?

And Many more…

This week, I make my return in something of an ad hoc studio set up after coming back into the city following my evacuation for Gustav. I hastily threw together both the linkroll and the show notes, almost certainly leaving a great deal out.

However, it is still a great show with our usual mix of copyright news, views and abuse.

All in all, there were thirteen stories this week including news from all over the copyright world including our “Weird Story of the Week”.

This week’s stories include:

It is another packed linkroll for this week with over thirty stories and major developments in Canada, the UK and here in the United States.

It was another busy week for copyright news with 30 stories making the linkroll. Canada was a dominant force in the news with a new, controversial piece of copyright legislation that promises to divide the country.

In other copyright news, a UK ISP has started sending warning letters to customers, a Swedish party wants to legalize piracy, Metallica finds itself in controversy again and we have updates on the RedLasso story, the cost of settling with the RIAA and even a case where the police get busted by the copyright cops.

Remember, as usual, this week’s linkroll is a “raw” link list. Some stories are duplicated, some do not point to their original sources and some may not be accurate. A great deal of refining goes into producing the show notes for the Copyright 2.0 Show.

We have updates on Metallica’s new Internet plan and the controversy around it, a clash between Radiohead and Prince, the first user arrests in the Oink case and the first criminal court ruling for online music piracy.

However, the headline from the week was Mediadefender allegedly taking down Revision3 in a DOS attack for reasons that are not wholly clear at this time.
