First off, thank you to everyone who has provided suggestions and ideas for improving the beta of the new Plagiarism Today. The feedback has been tremendously helpful.
Overall, most people have been very positive about the new look and several people have made very good suggestions about how to improve the site.
I’ve taken many of [...]

Housekeeping: Site Improvements

By Jonathan Bailey • Jan 3rd, 2008 • Category: Articles, Housekeeping

With some extra time at New Year’s, I took the chance to make some site overhauls and improvements, the last of which were finished last night.
The biggest update was the removal of a plugin that was putting a heavy load on the database server. Though it is unlikely that non-commenting users noticed this due to [...]

More Updates to Stopping Internet Plagiarism

By Jonathan Bailey • Dec 7th, 2007 • Category: Articles, DMCA, Housekeeping, Legal Issues

In continuing the work that I began last week on the Stopping Internet Plagiarism section of the site, I’ve updated two more chapters of the work, Contacting the Plagiarist and Contacting the Host.
In both cases the updates were relatively minor in nature but both chapters required some work to bring them back up to code. [...]

When I opened up my link bucket to start hammering out the show [...]

By Jonathan Bailey • Dec 1st, 2007 • Category: Articles, Housekeeping

As some may have noticed, Plagiarism Today was down most of yesterday evening on into the early morning. This was caused by an extensive upgrade at my host that required multiple hours of downtime.
Though I was aware of this outage before it took place, it was not anticipated to take as long as it did. [...]

Updates to “Stopping Internet Plagiarism” Series

By Jonathan Bailey • Nov 27th, 2007 • Category: Articles, Housekeeping

I’ve noted for some time that the “Stopping Internet Plagiarism” series on the site has fallen into grave disrepair. For example, the instructions for finding the host referenced a service that has not been operation for almost a year and offered complicated instructions when easier tools were available.
So, I’ve started taking some time to rewrite [...]

Housekeeping: New Contact Form and MyBlogLog

By Jonathan Bailey • Nov 23rd, 2007 • Category: Articles, Housekeeping

With the holiday causing traffic to the site to taper off significantly, I took the opportunity to make some minor upgrades to site.
First, I modified the "Contact Plagiarism Today" page to use a new, much more simple, form. The form is still CAPTCHA protected, at least to a degree, but doesn’t require all of the [...]
