Today I am proud to announce a major change in my personal life. After three years of serving as an independent contractor and working for a variety of clients, I have been hired to work full time managing a content protection company, CopyByte.com.

CopyByte.com is a content protection and management company that is currently services content creators in the medical field. Though founded in 2002, it is being revamped and revitalized to become a more robust solution that is both novel in its approach and effective in its results. This will also include a new Web site some time in the not-too-distant future.

This means, however, that I am not longer accepting new paid consulting clients or any new projects. My hours are very full already and will be even more so in the coming weeks as things begin to ramp up even more.

I have edited the consulting page shortly to reflect that change.

However, once we’ve finished developing the system, CopyByte.com will be accepting new customers. In the meantime, we will be focusing our efforts on existing clients to develop and hone a better way to protect content and will not be accepting new clients.

When we’re ready to open our doors formally, I’ll post announcements both here and at CopyByte.com

What Does This Mean for PT?

As I can imagine, many will be wondering what this means for Plagiarism Today. The good news is that very little will change here. Plagiarism Today is not part of my employment agreement.

The Consulting Services page will change and I will be adding sponsor links to CopyByte’s parent company, Vortala, and some of their other services in the right-hand navigation of the home page.

Other than that, nothing will change. I am planning on keeping the same posting schedule and maintaining it in exactly the same way. PT will shift from a business/personal blog to just a personal one, but otherwise it will remain the same.

As I have always done in the past, I will continue to disclose any conflicts as they may come up in my writing and work to report in as unbiased of a manner as possible.

In short, if you’re a long-time subscriber of the site, it is unlikely that you will notice anything different at all.

Bottom Line

This is very exciting time for me personally. Not only am I starting a new job, but the job is to help develop a new content protection system, work with clients to protect their work and find ways to enforce copyright that generates customers rather than enemies.

I want to say thank you to all of my clients, past and present, who I’ve worked with over the years. You have been great and I can safely say I’ve never had a bad client. I feel very fortunate to be able to say that.

If you have any questions about this, please feel free to either send me an email or ask in the comments. I’ll gladly answer them the best that I can.

Thank you very much for your support!
