It is a complex issue, but it is something Webmasters need to be aware of, which is why I talked about it here. Hopefully, with time, this can be brought back down to earth a bit for us laypeople.

I read some of your articles highlighted here. I find that proxying is rather a complex issue to control. Most would not bother to use proxy. I find that malicious scripts at user end hard to control. I also believe some ISP providers make themselves vulnerable to proxy-abusers.

I'm glad that you liked the post and found it balanced. My goal was not to make this about Tynt or any other service in particular, but the concept, so please do not think of this as an attack or even a restrained one. Tynt just happened to be the major controversial example.

On that note though, I am glad to hear that you are rolling out features that will be fixing some of the more controversial elements of Tynt, please keep me posted on the changes you make.

Thank you again for your feedback and I am glad you liked the article!

Jonathan, I wanted to say thanks for your article as it seems to be very balanced and fair.

I work for Tynt and agree that like many technologies, proxying can be utilized with both positive and negative effect. In our current beta testing cycle we are looking to learn how we can be a valuable part of the online community and as you put it, exhibit 'ethical' proxying, so that both the users of Tynt and the sites being Tynted can benefit. The community has (generally) :) been very supportive and has had a lot of constructive input into our current beta cycle that we will be putting into our final product, and for some of the urgent items, like making sure that Google doesn't index what we are doing, we are rolling out hot fixes to the beta.

Thanks again to you and all of the people in the community who have been helping us make this work!
