Weekend Linkroll - 05-17-08

By Jonathan Bailey • May 17th, 2008 • Category: Articles, Linkblog

It was another crazy week for copyright news with the RIAA suffering a pair of major setbacks in the courtroom, more news about Comcast Bittorrent blocking and the IFPI steering kids toward Limewire and Kazaa

We also have updates on the RIAA campaign against college students, NBC’s DRM debacle and Universal Music’s recent lawsuits

Remember, as usual, this week’s linkroll is a “raw” link list. Some stories are duplicated, some do not point to their original sources and some may not be accurate. A great deal of refining goes into producing the show notes for the Copyright 2.0 Show.

  1. Perhaps not quite on topic with your other articles, but did you see this one about the Sheriff who plagiarizes, but says it’s not that big of a deal (even if he’s telling people statistics that aren’t actually true for his area).

  2. Cybele: I did see it but made the decision not to include it. I always struggle about whether to include plagiarism scandals in the show as I try to figure out if it is really and truly copyright news. Sometimes it’s great as an odd piece but I got back and forth on this a lot.

This site used to cover plagiarism scandals heavily, search for Kaavya and you’ll see a few articles there. But I kind of got out of that.

If you think it is something that you and other readers might enjoy though, I can definitely keep my eye out more in the future.

    Thoughts?
