Plagiarism Today Headed to the UK

It gives me great pleasure to announce that I will be a guest speaker at the 3rd International Plagiarism Conference this summer.

The conference will be held June 23-25 in City Campus East, Northumbria University, Newcastle-upon-tyne, UK.

I don’t have many details to offer on my presentation yet. I’ll post more information as it becomes solid. However, the conference itself, to quote the organizers, will center on “ethical use of digital sources, approaches to engaging both learners and educators in the process of addressing plagiarism, addressing plagiarism in web 2.0″.

Registration for the event is open for those who are interested. Attendance to the event is limited to 200 delegates so if you are in the UK and might be interested in this conference, you may want to register early.

I’ll post more updates on the event as we get closer to it. But I wanted to go ahead and get the information out there so, if anyone wants to attend, they can go ahead and make plans.

I’m greatly looking forward to both traveling to the UK and meeting some the greatest minds in plagiarism fighting. It is a tremendous honor for me and I m very excited about this opportunity.

It would be a great honor to meet a couple of you there.

Jonathan, frankly, I envy you. Not for the weather of the UK during this time, though indoors, you should be close to hyperventilation, but for the fact that the conference is being held in the UK. Some of the best legal brains in the business of IP protection are based in London, and hopefully you will get to meet and hear them.

Congratulations for being called as a guest speaker too. Normally, these legal types are very insular! So, you must have impressed them quite a bit!!

Have a great time. I look forward to your posts on return.

Patrick: Thanks for the congrats!RS: Thanks for the congrats as well. I'm very excited about this and I can't wait.Of course, I'm a bit intimidated after last night. I looked long and hard at my fellow speakers and realized that I'm the only one without the word Dr. before his or her name.I think all of the other speakers I've at least heard of and several I've read and admired. There aren't any legal minds per se but some great regulators and technologists. I must say, this is a very intimidating crowd to be speaking in front of but a huge honor and a very exciting chance. I literally can not wait.

Yes, that line does look a LOT better. The original was more humorous, though.

JB says:

Mr. J: Thanks for the congrats! I don't know how much time I'll have for sightseeing but I hope to sneak in at least some fun.Mike: The original was funnier and, in a strange way, more accurate. After all, most of the conference centers on plagiarism detection. I don't know how many plagiarism fighters there will be.

Mike: Funny! I re-wrote the sentence to be just a little more clear though…That's what I get for writing as I rush out the door to an appt…
