Just a quick update – We have taken your comments and many others and believe had made significant improvements to the duplicate content detection mechanism. In order to fully take advantage of the benfits of BitScan you should sign-up for a package, and look at the many options available for managing duplicate content notifications such as white listing friendly domains etc.

If any PT readers are interested in becoming a beta user, please let me know and I’ll be happy to set you up.

Also, we released another product this week called Copy Alerts. Just enter your email and a domain and you’ll be notified via daily emails of duplicate content found. There is also a WordPress Plugin available for version 2.3 and above. If you would like to read more see –

Cybele: Hm, I don’t know what to tell you. I know that Copyscape uses the Google API so it could be a limitation of Google. If that is the case, keep your eyes open as some services are coming up that don’t depend on Google in any way at all. They might break the deadlock…

Jonathan – I get similar results with Copyscape, in that I can put in ChocolateAll and it matches that content as being related to my site. But when I search Copyscape it never brings up ChocolateAll.

Basically none of the plagiarism-detection services have done any better than just keeping a google keyword alert active and every once in a while checking on some special phrases on my own and a couple of RSS-fed technorati tags.
