I guess it really has been over a year. Wow. It doesn't feel that long. Yes though, it is still a mess and something needs to be done. I wish that the system could be done with altogether but, barring that, an ICANN-like system that allows for private registrars is a decent alternative.Something has to change though, that much is clear.

A little over a year later and LIVE (not beta), and it's still clunky and painfully slow, having to input my name and address at least four times. Plus, yeah, DON'T click on the button that gets info from your profile. It just kept trying and trying. Just click on "New" each time that offer is available, much faster. But finally, I get very far and the little circle indicator keeps going and going - it's been over 5 minutes now, think I should give up? With a registration system like this, I wonder - hmmm - when you do have a copyright dispute, will they find your copyrighted document at all?

Murali: It'd be nice, but I somehow doubt it.

Chris: Several years and, most likely, several million dollars went into this system. Meanwhile, lone developers working out of garages are turning out better work.

It is sad, but that's government for you.

However, I do think that you're right. With the USCO having a monopoly on official registration, they can release whatever they want. They don't even HAVE to do this.

I guess I should be grateful for what I get from the all and powerful USCO. Even if it does stink.
