Will,

There are some advantages to being on an archive site. If you don't use a non-repudiation service such as Numly or Registered Commons, an archive site can provide some verification of copyright ownership by proving that the work was up on your site at a time before the infringer started using it.

Other than that, there is little practical reason to be included in such a site, especially if you plan to remove your site from it before closure.

The decision, as I see it, is really up to the Webmaster...

Hope that helps!

Hi Jonathan! About #2 in prevention, "Block known archiving sites". It got me wondering what possible advantage there could be for any of our sites to be included on an archiving site, ever? Are you recommending step #2 only for dead sites? Or do you do it on current sites also?

Thanks -Will
