Another Dean LeBeau Update

The University of Missouri-Kansas City recently announced that it will be placing Dean Bryan LeBeau on administrative leave until the end of the year while the school investigates the matters and will be docking his pay $29,000.

Though he’ll keep $128,500 of his original salary, this is still by far the stiffest penalty than any other of the recent commencement speech plagiarists have received. It’s welcoming to see the school take such strong action, even against an old infringement and it goes a long way to restoring one’s faith in the system.

At the very least, it shows students that plagiarism has consequences that aren’t worth the benefits. At least I hope that’s the point that they get…
